ISE 2017: Dataton previews key new features in its WATCHOUT multi-display system
Exhibiting for the fourteenth time at ISE, Dataton will give a sneak peek at exciting new features in its award-winning WATCHOUT multi-display production and playback software. Visitors are invited to preview live IP production workflow and 24-channel ASIO support in WATCHOUT at the Dataton stand 12-E70, alongside the new WATCHPAX 4 media player, showing 8K output (4 x 4K).
Live IP production (video-over-IP) is enabled in WATCHOUT by the open NDI protocol developed by NewTek. NDI, Network Device Interface, allows multiple video streams on a shared connection and supports high quality, low latency, frame-accurate video over local area networks. With the added support of NDI, WATCHOUT users can bypass the technical and physical limitations of standard broadcast infrastructure, as well as benefitting from reduced cost and deployment time. NDI has been widely acclaimed and is supported by major players in the industry.
“We closely follow the move towards IP for professional video distribution and production workflows, as it will have a tremendous impact on our industry. We are very excited to announce support for NDI,” says Mikael Ena, Senior Product Manager at Dataton.
Dataton will also be previewing 24-channel audio support in WATCHOUT through the newly implemented ASIO (Audio Stream Input/Output) protocol. Using ASIO – a multi-channel audio transfer protocol developed by Steinberg – WATCHOUT gains exclusive control over the sound device, enabling low-latency access of up to 24 audio channels.
“This advance in audio support is great news for producers working with complex sound scenarios. The creative use of audio is, of course, key to developing engaging experiences for audiences worldwide,” says Mikael Ena, Senior Product Manager at Dataton.
