WATCHOUT delivers at awards gala

The Golden Egg Award (Guldägget) is Sweden’s oldest, largest and most prestigious competition for the communication industry. Organized by KOMM, the Swedish Association of Communication Agencies, Guldägget celebrated its 55^th anniversary in April 2016 with a gala awards evening for 1300 guests from ad agencies, clients and the industry at large.

Swedish staging experts Scenteknik provided sound, lighting and projection technology for the celebrity event. Scenteknik chose a Dataton WATCHOUT multi-display system to deliver all the graphics and video shown across a total of 15 projection surfaces, plus a display area consisting of 40 Martin VDO Sceptron LED-bars. Light intensity in the Sceptron rig was controlled with WATCHOUT via Artnet.

“The WATCHOUT system needed to handle video files for the nominations, winners and other footage which are cued manually during the show, as well bringing in the triple camera feed on the projection areas with low latency,” explains Per Virving, CEO, Scenteknik. “Low latency for the camera feed was one of the deciding factors in the choice of playout-system. We were really pleased with the latency achieved with our dedicated Dataton WATCHMAX display server.”

WATCHOUT system and WATCHMAX servers were supplied by PIXIlab, Linköping.
