YOU HEAR WHAT YOU SEE
PICKUP AUDIO GUIDEDataton PICKUP unites a sleek look with a fresh approach to audio tours. The PICKUP audio guide is an advanced MP3 player with FM radio for even greater flexibility in your tour. It features a minimum 1GB memory for up to a 100 hours of high quality audio, easily downloaded during charging. Sound is reproduced through headphones or the built-in loudspeaker to suit. And at just 10 cm long, the new cylindrical PICKUP fits snugly in your hand, or round your neck on a shoestring lanyard. Best of all, the intuitive user interface is designed for any user, young old or in-between. Simply point-and-click and enjoy the tour.
FROM THE OUTSIDE INNo matter how you look at it, PICKUP looks good. The classy exterior is of aircraft-grade, brushed aluminium, designed to withstand all kinds of butter-fingered visitors. The audio guide weighs in at just 45 g and 10 cm in length, light enough to hold in your hand or dangle from a lanyard.
Twist the top of the PICKUP to adjust volume, and use the single red button for everything else: press to select sound messages in an audio tour, browse through sound files, tune radio channels, or adjust equalizer settings. The simple clockface display provides feedback throughout each operation.
TO THE OUTSIDE WORLDThe base of the PICKUP features a standard 3.5 mm jack for headphones or a USB cable. USB is used to download files to the audio guide's memory or charge the PICKUP. Connect headphones to enjoy the top quality audio available in PICKUP. Or, if you'd rather not use headphones, listen to sound from the built-in loudspeaker. Last but not least, the top of the audio guide features a powerful infrared transmitter/receiver, the key to your audio tour.
A PERSONAL AUDIO EXPERIENCEUse PICKUP whenever you want personalized mobile audio at museums, exhibition or tours. The PICKUP system caters to your requirements, whether you plan on 10 or 1010 visitors, one or more languages, a single tour version or several. What's more, PICKUP also functions as a standalone MP3 player with FM radio. The audio content of the tour is stored on the PICKUP as MP3 files, created and tagged in standard software, like iTunes. Files are download straight from your computer.
To set the mood or deliver important info, sound messages may also be triggered automatically when a visitor passes a specific transponder. And by using the built-in FM radio in PICKUP, tour guides can broadcast directly to the audio guide users. For even greater impact, PICKUP provides immediate sound sync to shows created with Dataton WATCHOUT.
THE CHARGER
For larger installations, you simply set up a master PICKUP then clone it, 25 at a time with the multi-talented PICKUP CHARGER. And rewrite the PICKUP guides just as easily if you need to add or alter a sound file.
THE TRANSPONDER
Infrared transponders are mounted next to objects of interest in the tour and assigned ID numbers to match the stored sound files. The visitor simply strolls around the installation, pointing and clicking at transponders. Each transponder triggers a related sound message stored on the PICKUP.
